Position Title: Marketing Communications Specialist
Location: Admin Office in Tallahassee, Florida; Can accommodate remote/hybrid considerations
Work Environment: Full-time, salaried with benefits, ability to work remotely, some limited travel
Reports to: Director, Public Relations and Communications
Anticipated Start Date: January 2025
The Florida Association of Community Health Centers (FACHC) is looking for an enthusiastic, fully competent, and productive Marketing Communications Specialist, also known as a Communications Specialist or Public Relations Specialist, to assist in managing the Association’s external and internal communications. We expect the candidate to have experience in non-profit, policy, and/or healthcare communications, project management, and phenomenal communication and copywriting skills. You will identify and build long-lasting relationships with target audiences, promote a positive public image, and control the dissemination of information on our Association’s behalf.
You will work independently, exercising judgment within defined guidelines and practices with general supervision provided by the Director of Public Relations and Communications.
Minimum Qualifications:
BSc/BA in public relations, communications, journalism, digital marketing, or a relevant field and a minimum of two years of experience. In lieu of degree, 5 years of experience will be required.
Essential Functions:
The Marketing Communications Specialist will handle public relations, information output, media requests, and events support. You will also plan social media campaigns or advertising efforts for our Association.
You are responsible for creating communications content on behalf of our Association, whether it’s writing press releases or developing blog posts and social media updates. This position also prepares and oversees the production of event materials, announcements, photographs, and other general communications, including, but not limited to.
· Develop effective messaging strategies and content for various channels, such as social media, email, and print media.
· Craft and manage internal communications with members (memos, newsletters, etc.).
· Draft content (e.g., press releases, social media posts, blog posts) for mass media or the Association’s website
· Pitch story ideas and content to media
· Organize initiatives and assist with the planning of press conferences.
· Liaise with the media and handle interview requests, statements, etc.
· Foster relationships with stakeholders and key people
· Collaborate with marketing professionals to produce copies for advertisements or articles to promote services.
· Monitor the Association’s website and social media channels to address queries and drive brand awareness.
· Assist with the planning, coordinating, and promoting of Association events, such as a conference or summit.
· Track campaign analytics
Requirements and Skills:
· Proven experience as a marketing communications specialist or similar role
· Experience in project management and execution of PR/Marketing campaigns and/or other initiatives
· Hands-on experience with web content management tools like WordPress
· Experience in copywriting and editing
· Familiarity with social media platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, X, YouTube)
· Working knowledge of MS Office; photo and video-editing software (i.e., Canva, Adobe Express, OBS Studio, etc.) is an asset.
· Knowledge of SEO and Google Analytics
· Excellent communication (oral and written) and presentation skills.
· Outstanding organizational and planning abilities, attention to detail
· Proficient command of English
· Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
Additional Considerations:
· Submit to and pass a drug test, if necessary, for the position or partners that we serve
· Successfully complete a criminal background check
· Reliable automobile, current Florida driver’s license, and proof of appropriate auto insurance
· Although minimal, must be able to work beyond regular working hours, including weekends
· Although minimal, as an exempt employee, must be willing to attend meetings outside of the organization’s typical hours of operation and to be able to attend meetings or conferences that are out of the area
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
· Must be able to lift up to fifteen pounds at times
· Reasonable travel activities
